Berlin is definitely one of those places in the world where everything you can think of in terms of food is within reach. They have hundreds of good breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner and coffeespots. But that one special place for which you have to do a little bit more research to find it? We found it for you! These are all our picks, categorised in all subjects. We wish you a very tasty time in Berlin! You won’t be disappointed…
In Berlin, you can indulge your sweet tooth and lovingly queue up at one of the fantastic bakeries and pastry shops that Berlin has. Where we found our restaurants in other districts, we found the best pastry shops mainly in Mitte. We’ved listed the best pastry in Berlin!
Canal
@canalberlin makes the most sophisticated, beautiful eclairs with amazing fillings. They have two branches in Berlin, both in beautiful premises. Their attention to detail, beautiful colors and special flavors really wowed us!
SOFI
@sofithebakery is a real French warm bakery that makes delicious puff pastries in addition to good bread. They often have special, one-offs on the weekends. Visit this cute store near Haus Schwarzenberg (beautiful street art).
Dilekerei
You go to @dilekerei for classic, chic cakes! In this old-fashioned, cosy little store you can eat them on the spot with delicious tea. Fun fact; the owner studied food science and technology in Berlin and worked in London for the best cake stores. She has also written a baking book detailing 45 of her most beloved recipes. Also check out her amazing Mediterranean food blog @ischta__
Brammibal’s
@brammibalsdonuts tempted us on Saturday to have breakfast with a horrifically delicious donut! They love (lots of) toppings. These vegan, handmade donuts are what you want. Trust us. Six locations in Berlin, so always one near you.
Tribeca
@tribecaicecream has vegan ice cream in nice intense flavors. We had one scoop with chocolate and whiskey, really nice!
Tigertörtchen
@tigertoertchen makes artisanal, cheerful cake pops and cupcakes we’re always up for that! We liked the pineapple cupcake the best.
Calm coffee
@calmcoffeeberlin is known for the sweet vegan buns they make themselves, so delicious! Add a matcha cloudy to make the perfect combination.
Hokey Pokey
@eispatisserie_hokeypokey has multiple locations in Berlin and is one of the best ice cream parlors!

Because we are such coffeelovers, we not only listed the best pastry in Berlin, but also look for new coffees and flavors! You must be thinking; have you been to all these places in a few days? The answer is yes! Here are our tips for coffees and special drinks you probably never tasted before.
Cebe coffeeroasters
@cebecoffeeroasters (Friedrichshain neighborhood) roasts its own organic beans into all kinds of coffee. The milk they use comes from a tap; how professional! An industrial store with a nice interior in the creative district of Berlin.
Cooquin
@cooquin_cafe_berlin (Friedrichshain neighborhood) serves special drinks inspired by Vietnam, really cool! We had an iced coffee with fresh avocado and delicious fresh passionfruit lemonade. Also try the latte with coconut milk!
Velvet
Time for cocktails! We think @velvet.berlin (Neukölln district) has the best in town; complex combinations with fresh herbs and ingredients that have been thought through in a beautiful, dimly lit bar with lovely mysterious music. A must go!
Silo
@silocoffee (Friedrichshain district) already mentioned in our lunch post; but their coffee should not go unmentioned! Here you get a satisfying big cup of cappuccino! Loved it.
Bonanza
@bonanzacoffee (Kreuzberg district) is located in an impressive building where you can see how the beans are roasted (in the back), which by the way are used by many top restaurants in Berlin (for example @codaberlin, see our post!). Recommended; the cold flat white, made with cold milk foam.
Calmo Coffee
@calmcoffeeberlin (Friedrichshain district) in addition to amazing vegan buns, has several cold and hot coffee specialties and other drinks. We loved the mango cloudy with cold sweet matcha cream. The cold brew is also very good!
Holy Coffee
@holy.coffee.berlin (Neukölln district) a nice barista makes delicious coffees! The store has a nice vintage interior and the fantastic cakes are homemade. Our tip: the vegan lemon cake with flowers!
Elemenza
Are you shopping around the Kurfürstendamm and fancy a cup of coffee? At @elemenzacoffee (Mitte district) they use their own brand of coffee beans! You have to pay attention though; it’s on the second floor of a store and thus a bit hidden.

Coda
If you are looking for something really special, we recommend @codaberlin. This unique restaurant serves a two star Michelin menu consisting of only desserts, 7 courses with matching special drinks. For a moment you are misled by the street where the restaurant is located (we’re not in the right place), but that’s exactly what makes it so mysterious. The chocolate they use in dishes is made entirely in-house from self-imported cacoa beans. For the latest menu, check out their website.
Secret Garden
@secretgarden_vegansushi (Friedrichshain district) makes plant-based sushi and proves that you can make lotssss of different flavours using only vegan ingredients. We were amazed! We’ve tried many, but our favourite is the Irezumi Art with vegan tuna, fresh truffle and miso.
Wencheng
At @wencheng_handpullednoodles (Prenzlauer berg district) you can stand in line daily for the best noodles ever! These Chinese handmade noodles in great sauce are available both veg and meat and you can choose how spicy you want it.
Sathutu
We were also actually also going to @sathutu.berlin, but unfortunately it was closed due to circumstances. We don’t want to leave it unmentioned though, because we are convinced that this fairly new Sri Lankan restaurant is very special.

Venue
@venue.breakfast (Neukölln district): a great concept where you can compose your own brunch and choose from all kinds of fresh items (at a nice price! – 4 items for € 15). Take for example a black croissant, blood orange with basil sugar or dulche de leche mousse with quinoa and deep fried white chocolate!
Factory Girl
@factorygirlrestaurants (Mitte district): our favorite in Amsterdam (see earlier post!) has a second branch here. Their motto is; healthy and VERY tasty (both vega and vegan options). In the picture: ‘Turk’s mom’, with sauteed spinach, fresh herbs, infused plant based yoghurt, perfectly poached eggs and red chili pepper butter. Don’t forget to try the one and only #cocoanjela, their vegan dessert that will blow your mind.
Silo
@silocoffee (Friedrichshain district): here we enjoyed an amazing breakfastbowl; especially the homemade passionfruit curd was delicious (we’re going to try and make it at home too). Super cute little place with delicious toasts and pancakes too. Complete your breakfast or lunch with their amazing coffee!
Kanaan
@kanaan_berlin (Prenzlauer berg district): make sure you’re hungry when you go here, the portions are big and the love splashes off your plate! This Israeli & Palestinian cuisine offers more than just falafel and hummus; take for example the sweet potato with mango curry cream and homemade pickled greens!
Annelies
@anneliesberlin is a very popular place for breakfast and lunch. We’ve had not only the most beautiful, but also the most amazing buttermilk pancakes! Super fluffy and with a little lemon, delicious cultured cream and berries. The salad was made with “spaghetti” of kohlrabi (how creative), with spring herbs, hazelnuts and ‘deichkäse’. Don’t miss this gem in Kreuzberg!
Happies
@happiesberlin (Prenzlauer berg district) makes nothing but stuffed steamed buns and wow, can they do that well! These incredibly nice women take steamed buns to a new level. On a nicely made plate we got ‘Mathias’; with Asian style spices, soy and figs. But also ‘Gigi’ (with mashed potatoes and and parmesan sour cream) was great! And for a very nice price as well.
