While temperatures are rising and city trips are booked, we wanted to share our tips on a city that is super nice to visit if you’ve already seen Berlin: Hamburg! We’ve been here last year and it truly surprised us. It’s beautiful, trendy and there’s good food! Here are our tips for breakfast in Hamburg, delicious coffees and dinner.
Aendre
⋆ Somewhat outside the city center but definitely worth the walk; @_aendre_. Healthy comfort food at its best – and 100% plant-based (although you won’t notice)! Loved the richly filled porridge and mushroom toast.
Marshall Street Coffee
⋆ You shouldn’t miss @marshall.street.coffee for breakfast! This Aussie specialty café makes delicious toasts, pancakes and other dishes. Love love love it!
Playground coffee
⋆ @playgroundcoffee: centrally located and delicious! Combined it with a walk through the beautiful park close by (#hamburgstpauli).
Mutterland Gastro
⋆ @mutterland.gastro is located in a beautiful venue and open early (9 am). We’ve been here for breakfast and tried one of their famous egg brioche buns. Here we’ve had our last breakfast in Hamburg before we left!
Goldenblack Coffeestore
⋆ @goldenblack_coffeestore is another one for good coffee and the most delicious giant cookies you’ll find in Hamburg!
Cafe Blanco
⋆ @cafe.blanco has multiple locations in Hamburg and makes home made cakes and sweets to have with their coffee.
Edmondo
⋆ Edmondo is one of the restaurants of @bigsquadra and has a modern Italian cuisine. Not only the food is pretty – I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many beautiful people in one place! Eating here is truly an experience, don’t miss it. Personal fave; the truffled pizza 🫶 And do make a reservation, it’s busy..
Salt and Silver
⋆ @saltandsilver.restaurants is founded by the writers of cookbook Travel, Surf, Cook. Their restaurant in Hamburg, Levante, has a kind of mysterious yet romantic vibe. The menu is suitable for everyone, serving all kinds of mezzes. Only using the highest quality ingredients (some of them even home-grown!), it’s no surprise their dishes BURST with flavour! Even some vegan options; like a beetroot-skewer or leek with chipotle, black garlic and miso.. yummm!
Ba Nomu
⋆ If you’re looking for fancy cocktails, @ba.nomu is an amazing Asian inspired cocktail bar right in the centre of Hamburg. Besides a stunning presentation, they offer you flavours you’ve never tried before, like the ‘Mrs Applepeary’: a cocktail topped with a wasabi matcha foam (spoiler; it’s DELICIOUS!).
Extra tip; if you’re looking for a nice place to have a drink in the afternoon, @strandpaulihamburg has a sunny terrace by the water!
