Spending a day in the lovely city of Gent? We’ve got some special foodspots to make your visit even more worth it!
Coffee & Brunch
Oats Day Long
Start with the best breakfast Gent at @oatsdaylong! Healthy, trendy and delicious. The name says it all; here you can enjoy oats in all forms all day long! Sweet and savory porridges, oatmeal pancakes, bowls with oats and even freshly baked oatmeal bread. We couldn’t really choose but after a while of eyeballing the menu and the food around us, we had the lemon poppy porridge and the wunderbrot with smoked halibut. A great way to start your day!
Smorbrod
@smorbrodgent is a delicious bakery and coffeespot close to Zuidpark and De Krook in Gent. A short walk from the center and totally worth it; the place is amazing! You can see all the baking happening live in front of you and the pastries are truly something special. We loved the white chocolate & blood orange pastry!
Oyo
Or for another special breakfast, visit @oyogent. As far as we are concerned, the best of both worlds: healthy, but very generous, flavorful and rich! We’ve had some damn good (black) pancakes and a refreshing acai bowl here.
Madam Bakster
For all pastry lovers – vegan or not! @madambakster creates the most delicious pastries and pies, all plant-based and free from refined sugar. The taste doesn’t lie – these people know their way around natural ingredients! We found the lemon & avocado pie to die for!
Goya Coffee
@goya_coffee_gent is a coffee joint with all kinds of Argentinian specialties, like chipas (cheese rolls), alfajores (cookies with dulche de leche) and empanadas. What an amazing combination!
STEK
For breakfast and lunch we also recommend @stekgent. In summer you can eat in their lovely garden. The menu offers options for breakfast and lunch (check their page for opening hours). The menu offers croissants and other small breakfast items but also full on breakfasts like blueberry pancakes and toasts. Definitely a good place for breakfast in Gent!

Dinner & Wine
Gazon
In summer, @gazon.gent opens its doors for nights full of fun, good music and delicious food. This summer bar is located a little outside of Ghent and is such a vibrant place! Get yourself a good cocktail and some food from the barbecue (the OFYR). They also offer different kinds of mezzes and other small snacks. We recommend you to book in advance in weekends!
Winebar ONA
At @wijnbarona they stand for quality wines from small producers and most of the wines are biological. We love this wine bar because it has a cosy neighbourhood feeling and they pay true attention to costumers and their own specific taste.
Boker Tov & Yom Shishi
We’ve mentioned @bokertov.be before in our article on restaurants in Antwerp, and now they opened up a location in Gent! And that’s not all. In the back of the restaurant (with another entry) you can enjoy delicious cocktails in secret and exclusive dive bar @yomshishi.be! The dress code is sexy, bold & wild, so make sure to dress up and be ready..
Zuru Zuru
If you’re a fan of ramen just like us, definitely visit @zuruzururamen. Listed in the @gaultmillaubelgium Pop for a reason; Zuru Zuru makes true authentic, biological, home made noodles and creates the most delicious specials. They also have plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans; we really recommend the veggie ramen and vegan dumplings. And what really excites us is that they offer various sakes to go with your ramen, even home made ones!
