Canggu is one of those places where you could eat somewhere different every day for weeks and barely make a dent in the list. Between Berawa, Batu Bolong and neighbouring Pererenan, we found everything from natural wine and communal Italian dinners to plant-based kitchens, serious coffee and beachside lunches. These are the places that stood out most during our time here.
Best Restaurants in Canggu
Santanera
Santanera brings Latin American flavours together with Mediterranean influences and ingredients sourced from around Bali. The restaurant itself feels much more polished than the typical Canggu dining spot, but the food is still built around sharing rather than formality. We particularly liked how creative the menu felt without becoming overly complicated. A good choice when you want dinner to feel a little more special.
Mosto
Mosto was a particularly exciting find for us as wine lovers. Known as Indonesia’s first natural wine bar, it combines a thoughtful selection of low-intervention wines with a Mediterranean-inspired neo-bistro menu that deserves just as much attention. The atmosphere is relaxed and social rather than serious, making it easy to spend an entire evening exploring different bottles alongside dinner.
Sa’Mesa
Sa’Mesa turns dinner into a communal experience. Guests sit together around one long table while a generous Italian feast unfolds over the course of the evening, with dishes continuously arriving to share. The idea is deliberately social: strangers meet, conversations start and homemade limoncello certainly helps. It was one of the most distinctive nights we had in Canggu and much more than simply another Italian restaurant.
Shelter
Shelter is located inside a beautiful open-air garden in Pererenan and focuses on Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours, with fire playing an important role in the kitchen. The menu is particularly good for sharing and offers plenty of vegetable-led dishes alongside meat and seafood. We loved the combination of the lush setting and bold, comforting food — polished enough for dinner, but still unmistakably Bali.

Breakfast, Lunch, Coffee & More in Canggu
Good Mantra
Good Mantra is completely plant-based, but the creativity of the menu is a much bigger reason to visit than the label itself. Vegetables, spices and locally sourced ingredients are used in colourful dishes designed for sharing, with plenty of unexpected combinations along the way. It is exactly the kind of restaurant that shows how strong Bali’s plant-based food scene has become.
BAKED.
BAKED. started with bread and pastries at the centre of the concept but has grown into one of Canggu’s most popular daytime addresses. Sourdough, viennoiserie and good coffee sit alongside a substantial breakfast and lunch menu. We originally came for the baking and quickly discovered that it is just as useful for a proper meal. Busy, yes, but there is a reason for it.
Crate Cafe
Crate is one of the Canggu classics and has been part of the area’s café culture for years. Portions are generous, the menu is colourful and the atmosphere is always energetic. It may no longer feel like an undiscovered address, but it still captures that casual Canggu breakfast culture particularly well. A good option when you want something substantial before a day around the coast.
Honey
Honey Kitchen has a warm, beautifully considered interior and a daytime menu built around fresh, comforting food. As the name suggests, honey appears throughout the concept, but the menu goes far beyond sweet dishes. We liked the little details here, from creative breakfast ideas to unusual coffee preparations. A polished but still relaxed option for breakfast or lunch.
La Brisa
La Brisa is as much about spending an afternoon by the ocean as it is about eating. Built from reclaimed wood and overlooking Echo Beach, the beach club has a relaxed, slightly bohemian atmosphere with food, drinks and plenty of space to settle in. We enjoyed coming here for a long lunch by the water, and the regular Sunday market adds another reason to visit.
Tribal
Tribal combines food with one of the things Canggu is now known for: working remotely. The open, peaceful space was designed for people to work, meet and spend time together, but the café itself is reason enough to visit. The menu leans fresh and health-conscious, making it a good daytime stop even if opening a laptop is the last thing on your mind.
Café Vida
Café Vida has a strong focus on organic ingredients, fermented products and colourful, nutrient-rich food. Smoothie bowls, lunch dishes, house-made kefir and kombucha all fit naturally into the concept, while the atmosphere feels more personal than many of Canggu’s larger brunch addresses. A particularly good choice if you enjoy the more wellness-focused side of Bali’s food scene.
Machinery Cafe
Machinery is a compact specialty coffee spot with plenty of personality. The café works with beans roasted in Bali and keeps the focus primarily on coffee rather than building an enormous all-day menu around it. We also loved some of the playful industrial details in the interior, which make the small space memorable without distracting from what is in the cup.
Mustache Coffee
Mustache Coffee is an easygoing local option when you simply want a properly made coffee without turning it into a full brunch experience. The menu includes plant-based milk options and a selection of simple food and sweets, but coffee remains the main attraction. A useful little address to have on the list while moving around Canggu.
Black Sand Brewery
Black Sand Brewery brings something different to Canggu’s food and drink scene: beer brewed locally in Bali. The large brewery and taproom offer a rotating selection of beers alongside casual food, creating a completely different atmosphere from the cafés and wine bars around town. We liked having somewhere that celebrates another side of local production beyond coffee and cocktails.
Gaya Gelato
Gaya Gelato is a reliable answer when the Bali heat calls for something cold. The company makes its gelato locally and now has several locations around the Canggu, Berawa and Pererenan area. The flavours range from classic to more seasonal combinations, with a strong focus on good ingredients. Simple, but definitely one of the sweet stops we would happily repeat.
