Tulum, the last but definitely not least place we have been to in Mexico. A place we completely fell in love with and to which our thoughts regularly wander back. Where our love for food and chill beach atmospheres converge. Tell me, where else in the world can you get a vegan burger or artisanal Argentine empanada on the beach? It is becoming increasingly popular and is a bit like Ibiza, but Mexican style! Tulum is not a city but a small town on the coast, which makes it so special that so much good food is available.
Tulum has many (insta)famous food spots, so we would like to give you the somewhat less obvious places!
Italdo
@italdocafebistro: the absolute number 1 in this list for breakfast in Tulum. Here you can get, for example, a vegan french toast with pineapple chutney and basil sorbet. Also try the black croissant! You will find this hidden gem almost at the end of Tulum, don’t skip it.
Botanica Garden Cafe
@botanicagardencafetulum: in this romantic garden they serve the most delicious sandwiches, coffees and desserts! We were also impressed with the live music, there was even an music artist playing beautiful tunes on a saw. Enjoyed it very much!
Woolis Foodie Concepts
At Woolis Foodie Market (www.woolismarket.com) they sell everything that makes us happy. Fresh humus, juices, snacks and local products. Get some here and eat it on the beach like we did! Delicious artisan bread for dipping we got at @elabastotulum. Also the fresh puff pastry with custard is a must try!
Sin Etiqueta
@sinetiqueta.tulum makes the most delicious cocoa bowls ever! The iced coffees are also top notch!
Bowls De Guadalupe
At the cute little place down the road @losbowlsdeguadalupe you can eat a fresh plant based smoothiebowl and then roll right onto the beach, love it! Perfect for a healthy and light breakfast in Tulum.
Huaya Camp
@huayacamptulum offers a super special stay in a luxury tent. You can also follow special workshops; check their page! Everything here breathes tranquility, highly recommended if you want to experience the real Tulum vibe. @potheadstulum is right next door and has delicious coffees.

Eat at Liefs
⋆ On the way to the beach you will find the foodtrucks of @eatatliefs. This power couple from Amsterdam grows their own crops in cooperation with the local Mayan people. At the foodtrucks, they create delicious vegan dishes with their own harvest. How awesome! Treat yourself with a shroom bagel or a vegan burger, but definitely don’t skip the cloudy coconut iced coffee, it is SO. GOOD.
Palma Central Tulum
⋆ Be sure to visit @palmacentraltulum, the amazing food court with good quality food trucks. Go eat at Tulum’s best kept food secret: @asianbodegatulum. The curries here are incredible! Just as good as in Asia, if not better! For dessert, stop by @crepacabana_tulum for a fresh fruit ice cream
Burrito Amor
⋆ For an amazing burrito, go to @burritoamor in the center. Healthy, lots of vegan and vegetarian options and a good option if you need to watch your budget. Also get your hands on the amazing guacamole!
Cleo
⋆ Beach tip: walk up the beach near @cleo.tulum, the music here is so nice and the people super chill
Stays
⋆ Besides our wonderful stay at @huayacamptulum, we also got to spend a few days at the beautiful @cocohaciendatulum. An adults only boutique hotel with beautiful rooms, fine music, bohemian garden and pools.
