A 2 hour drive from Mérida you will find the beautiful city of Valladolid. The streets, squares and stores of this town are fantastic and it is the perfect base to visit beautiful cenotes. And about the food; they have that under control in Valladolid! These places will not disappoint you.
IX CAT IK
@iixcatik is a half hour walk from the center but when you get there, you’ll be treated to a restaurant in a mysterious garden, where you’ll get a unique look at Mayan cuisine. We even got an explanation of the methods of cooking and various ingredients! Everything about it was magical, don’t miss this, it’s definitely one of the best restaurants in Valladolid.

Get some bread and pastries at the cute little boutique @ancestramx.
Onza
Enjoy the somewhat hidden rooftop of coffee bar @onza_coffee. We had an amazing iced coffee with coconut ice cream.
Wabigelato
For the best ice cream visit @wabigelato. We were surprised by friends with this ice cream parlor when there was a card for us in the display. Delicious!
El Ela Maya
For lunch we recommend @elela.maya.valladolid. Vegan dishes inspired by the Middle Eastern cuisine. Try for example the coffees or desserts with halva, amazing!
Idilio
We enjoyed some good food and beers from their own brewery at @idiliomx. A romantic garden with lots of live music.
Le Kaat
@le_kaat for the vegetarian and vegan lovers. All kinds of Mexican classics in vegan style but also healthy salads and coffee! The garden is super cute, Le Kaat is such a nice place to be.

Cenote Dzitnup gives you access to two of the most beautiful cenotes in Mexico (if you ask us): Xkeken and Samula. Come early and chances are you can enjoy these cenotes even on your own. Very special.
Cenote Ik Kil is well known and therefore quite touristy, but the planting within the cenote makes it very unique. Just go on time!
