Although Mexico City is not immediately known as a tourist hotspot, this city is great to explore! Especially in terms of food! We started our trip here and stayed in the Roma district. Together with the Condesa district this is the most trendy part of Mexico City and, if you ask us, the perfect place to enjoy the Mexican cuisine in different ways. Here are tips on the best food and breakfast in Mexico City!
Panaderia Rosetta
⋆ Panaderia Rosetta (@panaderiarosetta) is the best spot for breakfast in Mexico City! This place is also a bakery and always super busy! The bread and puff pastries are very good and the coffee is to die for. Definitely try out the sandwich with burned eggplant! They also have a restaurant, check their page on instagram @restauranterosetta. We also found out they opened a bar, @salonrosetta.
Quentin Café
⋆ Quentin Café (@quentincafemx) is in a chic neighborhood on Amsterdam street (how nice). Delicious coffee and pastries on a cozy street. While you’re here, visit Parque México right away! This clean and beautiful park with lounge chairs and soothing music is the most luxurious public park we’ve ever been to.
At BOU
⋆ At BOU (@bou_mx_) you are in the right place for a moment of peace on the sunny terrace with great coffee in cute cups. From early in the morning until the afternoon, you can enjoy all kinds of tasteful dishes like pancakes, salads, taco’s and good pastries!
La Pitahaya
⋆ Vegan time! If you are craving for true Mexican food, La Pitahaya Vegana (@lapitahayavegana) sells vegan tacos! Super delicious and in cute pink tortillas. If you’re looking for more vegan tacos, visit Gracias Madre Taquería Vegana (@graciasmadretaqueriavegana). This place specializes in making the vegan version of the Mexican classics.
Pujol (the world’s 50 best)
⋆ If you are looking for something really special to have dinner, you should have dinner at @pujolrestaurant. This amazing restaurant (also known from the Chef’s Table series, season 2, episode 4) brings the real Mexican streetfood flavours to fine dining level. The ‘Mole Madre’, a mole fermented for 2.654 (!) days and containing a hundred ingredients, is one of their signature dishes. Not cheap, but a lifetime experience if you ask us. Be sure to make a reservation in advance.
Joe Gelato
⋆ Joe Gelato (@joegelatomx) makes the most unusual and amazing flavors of ice cream you’ve ever tasted. How about ice cream made of flowers or black garlic? Different flavors every day, a must try!
Maison Artemisia
⋆ Maison Artemisia (@maisonartemisiamx) is a cool cocktail bar where you can go for special creations and great music.
