We sometimes spontaneously go to Lille for the weekend. The first time we came in Lille, this city immediately surprised us! It’s a city that is often forgotten and that’s a shame… The city is alive, has lots of foodspots, terraces, nice shops, wine bars, delis and special local beers. In the evening, head for Rue de Gand, the coziest street in Lille!
Breakfast, brunch & lunch
Coffeemakers
@coffeemakerslille – when in Lille, don’t miss brunch on Saturday at Coffee Makers. They are famous for it and rightly so – it is delicious, surprising (and for a very reasonable price). Make sure you have a reservation, brunch is often fully booked.
Dinner – Café Augustin
Tamper
@tamperlille for breakfast, brunch & coffee, located in such an idyllic street. Easy and comforting dishes that are suitable for everyone.
Paddo Cafe
@paddocafe – an Australian spot serving delicious (vegatarian) lunch with nice views on the church. Also a good option for breakfast or just a coffee.
Coffee
Rösterei Vier
@roestereivier_rvtc is such a cool place – making radio & coffee all in one!
Wally’s
@wallyscoffee; a retro place with perfect coffee, also a good spot for breakfast
Bloom
@bloom_coffeeshop; flowers & coffee – treat yourself to a fantastic lavender latte and try out flowery pastries.
Dinner
Aoyama
@aoyamalille – a very authentic and unique Japanese restaurant. Not serving sushi, but surprising and true Japanese dishes like ramen, mochi and gyozas. We would recommend this restaurant if you want to go for a quick bite.
Café Augustin
@cafe_augustin; a bit out of the center but worth making a detour for! A cozy dinner café with shared dining dishes of the moment.
L’annexe
@lannexelille – if you’re looking for a more fine dining experience we recommend L’Annexe! This restaurant is located slightly out of the city center but so worth it! The menu changes frequently and we found the prices to be very reasonable.
La Luck
@lalucklille – La Luck is a located in a beautiful building and is a little crazy! At this restaurant you can also play boardgames and it’s a very busy place. The food is very good and they have enough vegetarian (and even vegan) options.
Bakeries & pastry
Delambre
@delambrebakery; New York style cookies, crunchy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside – best when they’re warm.
The French Bastards
@the_french_bastards; Lous’ favourite, every pastry is sooo indulging, you just don’t know what to choose. The pistachio beignets are the best!
Meert
@meert_lille – our favourite pastry shop in Lille. Famous for their little vanille waffles, which you should really try! We also hop by everytime we’re in Lille.
Wine bars and cafés
La Cave Presentoir
@lacave.presentoir a small and very personal wine bar where you can choose your own bottle from the shelf, loved it!
Monsieur Jacques
@monsieurjacques_ – our favourite wine bar in a cozy street. They serve nice cheese platters and other snacks to go with your wine! And don’t forget to check out their cool basement.
La Biche et Le Renard
@labiche.et.lerenard – A slightly alternative cafe in the middle of Lille (in the famous Rue de Grand) where you can get very good beers. We loved the vibe around here!
