We did a little food tour through Utrecht in November and searched for the best coffees, the best pastry in Utrecht and other delicacies in this vibrant and cozy city. These are our picks!
Amadeus
@bakkerij_amadeus is located a little outside the city centre (next to @kasvio_restaurant) and is such a special bakery. Very good sourdough bread, focaccias and even fresh pizza bases.
Ohoj
@ohojcoffee has a very passionate and hardworking barista and makes the most delicious coffees. People stand in line in this cute retro shop to get their coffee fix!
Loaf
We’ve had a delicious cruffin at @loafutrecht, a microbakery that also sells wines and coffee. Their sourdough bread looked amazing too!
MOS
@moscoffeebar has various coffee specialties, we loved our dirty chai! Centrally located and a very nice interior.
Dagger
@daggercoffee, we got ourselves a flat white to go! Perfectly made by one of @dekoffiemeisjes. They also have some lunch dishes, check their page for more!
Life’s a peach
@lifes.a.peach.utrecht is a 100% vegan restaurant who manages to make very delicious vegan pies! Loved the banoffee one. And they even have vegan whipped cream..
The Village coffee
@thevillagecoffee is a very retro hangout that focuses on good coffee and good music. A very relaxed vibe!
Keek
@keekutrecht is a biological lunchspot and bakery and has various pastries and bread products. Nice fact; they bake on solar power!

Kasvio
For a plant-based restaurant in Utrecht you should go to the unexpected and beautiful location of the ‘Metaal Kathedraal’, where you can indulge yourself in a truly amazing vegan lunch or dinner at @kasvio_restaurant. This location in itself is worth going to, but what Finnish chef @maripitkanen puts out here is truly brilliant! Kasvio is driven by the concept of ‘cooking as storytelling’, using sustainable ingredients with care and inspiration from local organic horticulture.
And telling stories is what they did! The menu of this plant-based restaurant in Utrecht is seasonal and super creative and each dish is well flavored. We (literally) ordered the whole menu. Where some vegan dishes are sometimes perceived as dry or austere, every dish at Kasvio is creamy and generous. The restaurant is full of special art and thought has been given to (responsible) furnishings and tableware.
Kasvio is not going to be your average restaurant, gives meaning and above all; is going to make you really happy!
